The next regular meeting will be held on March 21, 2009 at the American Legion in
Williamstown, NY. You will be sent a post card in February to remind you of this
meeting.
This is our final newsletter for the 2008 season. Look forward to March 2009 and
another season of riding.
Happy Holidays and see you in the Spring.
I have received information that the membership should be aware of that has a bearing
on the upcoming election of our local Senator. This letter, in part, from the DEC
Region 6 reads:
“I feel compelled to write about the ATV issue, and though I may sound like a broken
record, I have some new thoughts I’d like you to consider. This morning, in addition
to the written letters and e-mails and personal discussions I’ve had, I was visited
by Senator Darrel Aubertine about this and another issue. He said he could not open
the door to his office in Canton, there were so many letters on this subject. He’s
no fan of ATVs, but wants to know what we are doing and if we are being reasonable.“
On the other side of this issue, Dave Renzi, candidate for State Senate running
against Darrell Aubertine, has stated that he is behind us as ATV’ers. He told the
membership at our Appreciation Dinner 9/21 that he will be our voice in Albany standing
up to the DEC. He looks forward to seeing us have the opportunity to open trails
in the State.
Also remember that David Townsend , NYS Assemblyman has long been a Club supporter.
Steve
The Club is the proud recipient of a $20,600.grant to be used for our Boylston Trail
Project . This trail is being named the “Yamaha Trail” and will lead this club to
the Jefferson County trails and give us access to many more areas in which to ride.
We hope this is only the beginning of creating a unified trail system supporting
safe, responsible riding and sustainable, open riding areas.
The Club’s work crew is presently working on this trail. The one big part of this
trail was a bridge over a creek and that has been replaced. A trail dedication ceremony
will be held 10/10/08 and the Yamaha Trail will be officially open in the Spring.
The Club wishes to thank Linda Leone for her donation ($30.) from her 50/50 winnings
at our August regular meeting.
The Club also wants to thank Skip Skinner for donating half ($75.) of his second
place winnings at the August Poker Run.
The first place ($500.) winner at the “225 Ticket Raffle” was Pulaski Wine & Spirits
in Pulaski. They donated all the winnings back to the Club. Willard Hilts and Richard
Kimbal, two of the winners $50. each) at this raffle, also donated their winnings
to the Club.
Throughout our event season Chester Vrooman has been supplying the Club with bottled
water. He also donated a case of copy paper. Our thanks go out to him.
At our Appreciation Dinner Pat Potter donated $20. and John Connally split his 50/50
winnings ($55.) with the Club
Our sincere thanks go to all these people who generously have given to the Club.
Included in previous newsletters were details from Frontier Communications Solutions
regarding “Helping to Connect Your Organization
With the Funds it Needs!" program. We are pleased to let you know that
two donations have come in the amount of a check for $60. Now you can see how this
program benefits the Club.
I am including another sheet in this newsletter, which outlines the program pay-off
figures and telephone number to call.
Please be aware that Frontier does have telemarketing people who may call you offering
new services. If you are interested, DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES WITH THESE PEOPLE.
Please hang up and call the 888 number listed on the enclosed sheet and use the
proper ID code to assure that you get what service you need and that the Club is
reimbursed with the proper amount.
Another new option offered by Frontier in their “Peace of Mind” program. It offers
three choices to meet your computer needs. The first is Hard Drive Backup service
for $4.99 per month, the second is the Unlimited Tech Support option at $9.99 per
month and the third is Inside Wire Maintenance at $12.99 per month. Ask about these
features when you call Frontier. These above options are all eligible programs for
reimbursement to be made to the Club.
January, 2009 is membership renewal month. Mark your calendars now and mail in your
membership dues in January to avoid standing in line at our regular meetings.
Enclosed you will find a new membership form to be completed and sent with your
2009 dues. You will note the addition of new boxes to be checked in completing your
new form. Your donation is not mandatory. Please answer all questions and complete
the form to insure that the Club has accurate information.
The stickers for the 2009 season will not be numbered and will be of a better quality.
Many members reported losing their stickers this season. This problem will be rectified.
You will also find a copy of the Club rules for your information. We hope that you
will review these rules and abide by them each season.
Each new season represents another set of conditions and trails to deal with. Each
year the Trail Coordinators try to accommodate all who wish to donate their time
to help maintaining and creating our trails. The new season of 2009 will bring new
opportunities for anyone wanting to join the crews. Work details will be held Tuesday,
Thursday and Saturdays. Camping will be available for anyone who would like to spend
the weekend. The final details have not been worked out yet, but will be in place
by the start of the 2009 season. Please consider donating any time you may have
to these work details. Your work will show and will be greatly appreciated.
Calling all members – only those who want to share camping out and having fun are
invited.
